What Are Cookies?

Why Pro.Works Uses Cookies

prevent fraud and protect accounts, domains, DNS configurations and transactions;
remember user preferences and privacy choices;
provide application functionality across dashboards and portals;
measure performance and diagnose technical problems;
understand how users interact with the Services and improve them;
support integrations between portfolio products; and
measure the effectiveness of communications or campaigns where permitted.

Not every cookie described here is in use at all times. What is actually set depends on the Pro.Works product you access, your location, your account type, your cookie preferences, your organisation's configuration, your browser, and which features are enabled.

Categories of Cookies We May Use

6.1 Strictly necessary cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are required for the Services to operate securely and correctly. They support account authentication, login sessions, security, fraud detection, session continuity, load balancing, network routing, application functionality, storage of privacy preferences, consent management, and protection against malicious activity.

Without these cookies parts of the Services will not function. Because they are necessary to deliver a service you have requested or to maintain security, applicable law may permit their use without consent, and where possible they cannot be switched off through a preference mechanism.

6.2 Authentication and account cookies

These determine whether you are signed in, maintain authenticated sessions, prevent unauthorised access, support multi-factor authentication, remember account state, redirect you securely between Pro.Works applications, and support identity or single sign-on functionality. They are generally essential whenever you use an authenticated Pro.Works account.

6.3 Security cookies

Security technologies identify suspicious activity, mitigate automated attacks, detect unauthorised login attempts, support rate limiting, protect forms and APIs against cross-site request forgery, detect bots, and protect our infrastructure. They may process IP address, browser and device information, request characteristics, session identifiers and security events.

6.4 Functional cookies

Functional cookies remember settings that improve your experience: language, region, interface and accessibility preferences, theme, dashboard configuration, recently used features, workspace preferences and remembered choices. Disabling them may cause personalisation features to behave differently or become unavailable.

6.5 Analytics cookies

Analytics technologies help us understand visitor numbers, pages visited, session duration, navigation paths, feature usage, approximate geographic region, referring websites, browser and device type, error rates and general usage patterns. We use that understanding to improve design, identify technical issues, understand feature adoption and plan development. Where applicable law requires prior consent for analytics, we will ask for it.

6.6 Performance cookies

Performance technologies collect page-load and response times, application errors, API performance, network conditions, failed requests and infrastructure reliability data. They help us keep the Services fast and stable and may be grouped with analytics in a preference interface.

These technologies are not strictly necessary and are subject to consent or opt-out mechanisms where applicable law requires. We do not intend to deploy advertising cookies in jurisdictions requiring prior consent unless that consent has been obtained. Where advertising technologies are implemented, the providers involved will be identified in our cookie disclosure or preference interface.

First-party cookies are set directly by Pro.Works or by technologies operating under a Pro.Works domain. We use them for authentication, security, application functionality, preferences, analytics, consent management and account management.

Some features involve cookies or similar technologies provided by third parties. These may include providers of analytics, cloud infrastructure, authentication, fraud prevention, customer support, communications, payments, video or media, developer tooling, performance monitoring, artificial intelligence functionality, advertising and marketing services.

Third-party providers process information under their own privacy policies and under their contractual relationships with ProWorks Inc. Where required by law, third-party cookies will not be activated until appropriate consent has been obtained.

Session Cookies, Persistent Cookies and Duration

Session cookies remain active only during your browser session and are normally deleted when you close your browser. They support authentication, security, navigation, temporary preferences and transactional or workflow state.

Persistent cookies remain on your device after the browser is closed until they expire, you delete them, or your browser or operating system removes them. They may remember preferences, recognise returning users, retain consent choices, support security and help us understand repeat visits.

Cookie lifetimes vary with purpose and may be session-only, short-term, medium-term or longer-term. We aim not to keep cookies longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which they were set, and durations may be disclosed in our cookie table or preference interface.

Browser, Device and Application Controls

Most browsers let you view stored cookies, delete cookies, block all cookies, block third-party cookies, restrict specific websites, clear browsing data, or configure automatic deletion. Settings differ between browser providers.

Blocking all cookies may prevent parts of Pro.Works from working properly, particularly authentication, security, account and session features.

Where we provide mobile applications, comparable technologies may be used inside them, including mobile SDKs, application and device identifiers, local storage, authentication tokens, crash reporting and analytics tools. Browser cookie controls do not apply to mobile applications in the same way; mobile operating systems provide their own privacy and advertising controls.

Local Storage, Pixels and Email Measurement

We may use browser local storage or session storage alongside traditional cookies for application state, user preferences, authentication-related data, temporary data, interface settings and performance optimisation. Unlike cookies, local-storage information is not automatically transmitted with every network request.

Pixels and web beacons are small pieces of code that indicate whether a page or communication has been viewed or interacted with. We may use them to understand website activity, measure marketing performance and email engagement, and support analytics. Where legally required, non-essential pixels are activated only after consent.

Certain Pro.Works communications may indicate whether an email was delivered or opened, whether links were selected, and whether the message led to a particular action. We use this to improve communications, understand delivery performance and improve support activity. Many email clients allow you to disable this measurement.

Authentication Providers, Embedded Content and Payments

If you sign in through a third-party identity provider, that provider may use cookies as part of the authentication process, governed by the permissions you grant, their privacy policies and their arrangements with ProWorks Inc. Authentication cookies are generally essential to completing sign-in.

We may embed third-party content or functionality such as videos, maps, documents, chat interfaces, payment interfaces, forms and support tools. Embedded providers may set cookies when their content loads, and where legally required certain embedded content will remain disabled until consent is given.

Payment and subscription functionality, including through PayQuest and Buy/Sale or Buy/Auction transaction flows, may involve third-party payment processors. They may use cookies to process transactions, maintain payment sessions, detect fraud, meet regulatory obligations, secure checkout and remember payment preferences under their own policies.

We may also use third-party security and fraud-prevention providers that deploy cookies to identify bots, prevent abuse, detect malicious traffic, protect login forms and APIs and maintain availability. Some of these qualify as strictly necessary because disabling them would materially weaken the security of the Services.

Artificial Intelligence and Connected Systems

Some current or future Pro.Works functionality incorporates artificial intelligence, machine learning or connected-device components. Those services may rely on application session identifiers, security technologies, authentication information, technical metadata and other necessary browser technologies to function.

The use of cookies does not itself determine how customer content is used for AI processing. Any AI-related processing of customer content is governed by the Privacy Policy, applicable product terms, enterprise agreements, data processing agreements and product-specific disclosures.

Information collected through cookies may constitute personal information where it relates to an identifiable individual or device. This may include IP address, device identifier, cookie identifier, account identifier, browsing activity, approximate location, website interactions and authentication information.

16.1 European Economic Area and United Kingdom

Strictly necessary technologies may be used without consent where the law permits.

16.2 United States and California

United States privacy laws differ by state. Depending on the applicable law, certain tracking technologies may constitute a sale of personal information, sharing, targeted advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising or profiling. Where those requirements apply to ProWorks Inc., eligible users will be given appropriate choices.

ProWorks Inc. does not sell personal information for monetary consideration as part of its ordinary business model. Where California law requires it, we will provide mechanisms to opt out of sale, sharing, cross-context behavioral advertising or other regulated processing.

16.3 Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a browser-based privacy preference signal. Where applicable law requires us to treat a valid GPC signal as an opt-out request, we intend to honour it. Its effect depends on your jurisdiction, your browser, the Services you use and whether you are signed in. GPC does not disable strictly necessary cookies.

There is currently no universally adopted standard requiring every website to interpret “Do Not Track” signals in the same way, and we may not respond to unsupported signals unless the law requires otherwise. This does not affect our commitment to honour legally recognised opt-out preference signals.

16.4 India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other jurisdictions

Where India's data-protection framework, Canadian privacy law, or the privacy, telecommunications and electronic communications laws of Australia, New Zealand or other jurisdictions apply to information collected through cookies, we will process that information in accordance with those requirements and provide a consent mechanism where consent is legally required. Pro.Works is intended for professional, commercial, organisational and adult users. The general-purpose Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly use cookies for behavioural advertising directed at children under 13. Higher age thresholds or additional consent requirements may apply in some jurisdictions.

Enterprise and Customer-Controlled Deployments

Enterprise customers may configure certain Pro.Works Services differently, with controls over analytics, integrations, authentication, data retention, privacy settings and optional functionality. If an organisation controls your Pro.Works account, that organisation's privacy policies may also apply to you.

Where Pro.Works technology is integrated into a customer-controlled website, application or service, and the customer determines which cookies or technologies are used, that customer is responsible for providing appropriate notices, collecting required consent, honouring privacy choices and complying with applicable cookie law. In those circumstances ProWorks Inc. may act as a service provider or processor.
